Bought two skirts recently in a sale and loved how flattering and how comfortable I felt in myself wearing them and decided to pattern search to find something with similar details (Deep Yoked Waistband, Gathered skirt, pockets and mid-calf length). Found Simplicity was having a pattern sale with free postage and spotted Simplicty 1369. I noticed Kristin of Voolenvine and Yarngasm has also made this skirt previously.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.
I’d like to apologise throughout this podcast episode, it’s been a while since I last recorded and I’ve not been 100% and I’ve been quite stressed (as a lot of you know why from previous episodes). I noticed when editing there quite a lot of shot of my fiddling with my top or touching my neck. It’s anxious thing and I will be keeping a close eye not to do this in future. I’m very sorry and I am aware.
And I’d love to hear from you all about a future Knit a long idea? I have previously run a Brioche kal in 2015 and it was one of my first Kals for the killtocraft group and now there are so many more options/patterns to knit and I’d love to put this forward, What do you think?
and secondly..
For a more easy going Kal I’ve also been wanting to do a Sock Blank Kal since November last year and both of these kals will run for at least 2-3 months?
Let me know your thoughts 😀

I’ve been looking to replace an older store bought cardigan that is the ‘staple black cardigan’ currently in my wardrobe. It’s been on my mind this past year and I figured it would be easier to buy the yarn if I could choose the cardigan. Since then, I’ve become obsessed with Ravelry and searching for the perfect cardigan.

But how do you choose?!

I was firstly looking at them all as options but that was too difficult so I narrowed down some ideas by looking at key features of the cardigan I’m replacing.

  • Top Down or Yoked construction.
  • Fitted.
  • Large waistband and standard length.
  • 3/4 Sleeves.

The only other thing I wouldn’t mind adding to this list is that it’s not too plain. I’ve come to realise I’m one for a pattern or complex knit, it keeps me excited and interested, plus it keeps me distracted when I need it.

Here’s a few ideas I’ve collected…

I love the look of this it’s garter stitch but simple, it’s fitted with lovely long sleeves for the winter but it’s quite high necked! And although Carrie has written this pattern in different weights I think I’d prefer the light version.

I’ve always been a lover of Andi’s designs but I’ve only ever knitted Fizz which was a test knit a long while ago but she was a lovely designer to work with. This pattern is a recent release and I think the neat and simple lace detail would just be subtle and appealing in a black cardigan. It would just be enough interest to keep me happy and the fit and sleeve length is lovely enough I could wear through a few seasons.

Gemini by Cecily Glowik Macdonald

This cardigan most represents my old cardigan which is why I’d be tempted to pick it! but I’m not sure it’s interesting enough, the panel on the back is nice but I’m not 100% keen on the moss stitch borders and how they might gap slightly.

What do you think? Is there any you prefer the most or maybe you’ve also knit them? or could recommend something I’ve not looked at?

These are just a few I’m still adding to my options on my Cardigan Bundle on Ravelry if you’d care to check it out.

Well this pattern was gifted to my by the lovely Melody from Manderines Podcast and the lovely Ruth from Raincloudandsage blog from a giveaway I entered in hope to get chosen. There was a choice between manderine’s hat pattern or between her two shawl patterns ‘Canopy’ or ‘Blom’. First prize winner to be picked got to pick between the shawls and luckily I was the first as I’d had my longing eye on the Canopy Shawl since it was released. However the timing must not have been right because If i’d have bought it back then I woud be the same shawl I’ve been knitting up this week. Having been influenced by a Voolenvine tutorial about adding beads to your knitting and seeing Little boobins ‘Dani’ sharing her beaded influenced shawl, it all inspired me to add beads to my very own Canopy!

I started the shawl on Tuesday and I haven’t really put it down, but I’m going to make myself tomorrow so I can actually show it as a work of progress on saturdays podcast! I wouldn’t want to have started and finished without you seeing it. I’m already doing the lace on the third teir and I’m debating a possible fourth! it could be on the cards.

I’ve had a few glitches along the way like realising the beads I’d chosen however perfectly fitting with the chosen yarn they had different sized holes which was a pain but I did manage to sort them to make it easier. The beads with the larger central hole got hooked on first with the crochet hook as planned and the smaller holed ones got added at a later date nearing the end of the lace and got added the same way but using a sewing needle and sewing thread to slip the bed over the stitch.

I didn’t let it put me back to square one and searching for beads as I’d fallen in love with these ones! The shawl is so stunning I’m in love with it!

I’m so very excited about this project I couldn’t hold back and had to show it off! Just everything about this project to me is Perfect and I don’t always think that way. It will certainly get a lot of wear this autumn/winter.
